16th World Congress on Parasitic plants to take place in Nairobi, Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya, has been selected as the next venue for the 16th World Congress on Parasitic Plants!

Nairobi is a major conference destination, which has been named Africa’s leading business destination twice by the Annual World Travel Award. The city is well served by a superb network of air, road and rail transport. The main international airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, located 17 Km from the city’s central business district.

The conference is scheduled to take place in the Eka Conference Hotel on 4–10 July 2021. The proposed schedule consists of four full session days as well as a plan to visit fields in Embu county (www.embu.go.ke), a region where Alectra vogelii (Orobanchaceae) has recently emerged as novel threat to agriculture. The WCPP dates will coincide with the wildebeest migration in the famous Maasai Mara, which is only a four hour trip away.

If later this year it looks like it will not be possible to hold the meeting in 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will reassess the situation.
